Our approach was to work with the existing slope, to minimise the need for ground excavation. We created a raised deck area to extend a small south facing patio. The level change provides a natural seat that faces the main house; making it a really flexible and social outdoor space and one that helps ease the transition from the house in to the garden. A gabion retaining wall provided a stylish way to reuse a concrete path that was removed.
